In answer to; "what are we", I do not think that my description necessarily fits all, but is typical of the audience that Suzuki 1999 Brochure was selling to. Photo number #1 shows a man with his LS650 talking to an older gentleman that stands next to an old crop dusting biplane (the caption reads "A Blast From The Past"). The add goes on to say "the incarnation of the big singles of the '50s and "60s". Picture #2 shows the LS650 being ridden by a young woman. The add also says that it is meant to blow away boredom, around town or on a winding country road. Its lightweight maneuverability and low seating is appreciated by beginning riders and those of veterans of the past (or those nostalgically inclined.
This fall my 1100cc Yamaha refused to start on the morning of a long trip, I had planned. In disgust I complained to my wife, I would have to postpone the trip. She said take the Savage instead. I answered, most mocho men think it is a girls bike! She said I was her mocho man and that it was not necessary to prove it to the other men. Well, this time I had intended to take a three day trip by myself and would not have to keep speeds of 75mph plus to match the others on there express rockets. As it turned out I had the ride of my life through the Colorado Rockies (averaging 350 miles a day). The answer to the question "what should we call ourselves is "THE NON-PRETENTIOUS"!!
